(DailyAnswer.org) – A New York high school hockey player, Connor Kasin, tragically passed away after experiencing a “sudden medical event” during a game, according to a letter from his school. Connor, a senior at Massapequa High School, was just 17 years old.
The heartbreaking incident occurred on Saturday night at the Town of Oyster Bay Ice Skating Center. Massapequa High School confirmed the news in a letter sent to parents, students, and staff. “It is heartbreaking to report that Connor did not survive. His passing is devastating to the Massapequa community, and we offer our deepest condolences to Connor’s family and friends,” the letter stated, as reported by News 12 Long Island.
Emergency responders arrived at the rink after Connor collapsed on the ice. According to Nassau County police, bystanders performed CPR until medical professionals and officers arrived. Despite their efforts, Connor could not be saved. The police are still investigating the incident to determine the cause of his sudden collapse. The investigation remains ongoing.
Connor was playing for the Sharks Elite Youth Hockey team, a well-regarded local organization, when the medical episode occurred. The team shared their sorrow in a public statement. “It is with a heavy heart the Sharks share the sudden passing of 18U defenseman, Connor Kasin. Please keep the Kasin family in your thoughts and prayers,” the statement read.
The tragic news has rippled through the community, leaving friends, teammates, and neighbors mourning the loss. Representative Anthony D’Esposito of New York also expressed his condolences on social media. “So sad to learn of the passing of Connor Kasin, a 12th grade student from Massapequa who tragically passed away while playing in a charity hockey game. My thoughts and prayers are with Connor’s family and the entire Massapequa community as they mourn this terrible loss,” he shared on social media.
