7.2M Illegals Entered The US Under Biden

(DailyAnswer.org) – An analysis by Fox News has found that almost 7.3 million migrants have entered the US illegally under President Joe Biden. The number is larger than the population of 36 separate states.

The 2023 fiscal year saw 2,475,669 encounters on the southwestern border. This figure alone exceeds the population of the border state of New Mexico. It is roughly 18.7% of California’s population, 23.9% of that of Texas, 32.3% of Florida’s, and 37.3% of New York’s. Eric Ruark, Director of Research for Numbers USA, argued that the unprecedented surge in immigration was the result of Biden’s policies. The majority of those attempting to enter the country illegally at the southern border in 2023 were still Mexicans. However, the overall percentage of migrants of Mexican origin was under 30% compared to 60% a decade ago.

The Biden administration’s immigration policies have attracted criticism not only from Republicans but from Democrats as well; as the president considers placing restrictions on asylum claims, Democratic New York Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has claimed that asylum is a legal right and that “imitating Trump” is not the solution. Ocasio-Cortez called the proposal outrageous and called on Biden to not sign it.

After Republicans voted to impeach Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas over his role in failing to effectively manage the Border Crisis, several Democrats suggested Biden’s planned restrictions on asylum were trying to appeal to Trump voters. More conservative Democrats highlight the divide in the party’s views on both the war in Gaza and immigration, such as Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman, who has made it clear that he does not share the more progressive views of some members of his party where immigration, border control, and Israel are concerned.

Republicans were not impressed with Biden’s proposed new laws that the President claims will help him solve the Border Crisis. His planned bipartisan deal would involve an “emergency border authority” mandating expulsions of migrants when numbers crossing the border exceed 5,000 a day over a weekly average. The plan also proposed smaller windows for asylum applications, immediate work permits for those seeking asylum, and more immigration judges.

House Republicans condemned the plan in the Senate and claimed the bill would have normalized unprecedented levels of immigration. They argued that Biden currently has the authority needed to reenact Trump’s immigration policies and better secure the border.
