(DailyAnswer.org) – Democratic California Representative Adam Schiff has dismissed concerns about President Joe Biden’s mental fitness, suggesting that if former President Donald Trump were to take a cognitive test signs of a “serious” mental illness would be flagged.
There are mounting calls for the president to take a cognitive test following his faltering performance in his televised debate with Trump. Republican South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham said that both Biden and Trump should take cognitive tests to ensure they are capable of committing to a second term in the White House.
Schiff was asked in an interview with reporters on July 7 whether Biden should withdraw from the presidential election following the poor performance in the debate. Schiff claimed in response that Biden had been “extraordinary” and that he had provided millions of jobs for Americans. He also praised Biden for his work in extending NATO’s borders and for his unprecedented policies to combat climate change.
The NATO Summit, which commenced in Washington on July 9, has served as a crucial moment that will help determine whether or not Biden is fit for a second term in the White House. Following the shaky performance on June 27, which Biden’s campaign put down to a cold and jet lag, Biden made sure to give an impassioned speech at the summit, despite calls from senior Democrats and major Democratic donors for him to step down.
Biden, like Schiff, has accused Trump in return of being mentally unfit for a second term in the White House. The incumbent president called his rival “confused” and “desperate”. Even Independent candidate Robert F Kennedy Jr, who has been accused by Democrats of being propped up by Trump donors, called Trump “unhinged” following the Republican’s rant on his Truth Social platform in April. The former president ramped up his attacks on Kennedy, branding him “radical left” and “fake”.
Schiff made the same recommendation as Graham that both leading candidates take cognitive tests. He suggested that the results would show that Biden is fit for another term and demonstrate that Trump has a severe illness “of one kind or another”.
