(DailyAnswer.org) – Joy Behar isn’t buying the idea that President-elect Donald Trump won the November 5 election with what some are calling a “mandate.” She made her feelings clear during Tuesday’s episode of The View, urging others to stop pushing that narrative.
The discussion began with co-host Whoopi Goldberg, who encouraged viewers to stay engaged and pay attention to what’s happening politically. “Keep your eyes open and your head straight,” she said. “Watch what happens and decide what you’re going to do. Will you make noise? Will you join a group to fight against this? Because this stuff spreads like wildfire.”
Behar then jumped in to address what she sees as a major misconception about Trump’s victory. “Let me just say, this idea that Trump won with some sort of mandate is simply not true,” she argued. Behar pointed to election numbers, saying, “He beat Kamala Harris by only 1.6%. Compare that to Joe Biden, who beat Trump by 4.5%, and nobody was out here calling that a mandate. So for anyone saying this, stop it. Just stop.” Behar further elaborated on this point during a recent interview, emphasizing the need to confront such narratives directly.
Not stopping there, Behar went on to criticize Trump’s approach to filling his cabinet. “Here’s another thing,” she added. “Why does it feel like every single person he’s picking is someone we’ve already seen on TV? Is Vanna White next? Most presidents go out and find the best and brightest people—folks we’ve never even heard of before. But with Trump, it’s like he’s assembling a reality show cast.”
Goldberg, ever quick with a quip, chimed in with her own theory. “Maybe he just wants to make sure his cabinet looks good on camera,” she said, adding a touch of humor to the heated conversation.
The exchange reflected The View’s trademark mix of sharp opinions and lighthearted banter, with Behar leading the charge against the notion that Trump’s narrow win represents any kind of sweeping mandate. For her, it’s less about the spin and more about sticking to the facts—whether or not they fit neatly into a headline. Behar remains cautiously optimistic about the political landscape, encouraging viewers to stay informed and engaged.
