(DailyAnswer.org) – President Joe Biden failed to name one thing that former President Donald Trump was capable of doing well in an interview that was filmed the day before the attempted assassination of Trump on July 13. A volunteer firefighter was killed in the shooting and two others were critically injured. Biden and other Democrats were widely accused by Republicans of vilifying and inciting violence against the former president.
When host Speedy Morman asked Biden what he thinks the Republican would do well, Biden replied that he “can’t think of a single thing”. The president proceeded to misrepresent things said by Trump or take them out of context. Biden again brought up Trump’s controversial warning that there will be a “bloodbath” if he returns to the White House in November. Trump’s comment in fact referred to the auto industry and its increasing reliance on Chinese-made electric vehicles due to Biden’s environmental policies.
Trump has been no less scathing in his criticism of Biden. At the Republican National Convention, as he wore a bandage on his ear following the shooting, he made only one direct mention of the incumbent president, who he called one of the worst in US history. He added that the damage caused to the country by the Biden administration had been “unthinkable”.
Both Biden and Trump have painted each other as corrupt and a threat to Democracy. The GOP has long argued that the Biden family as a whole is linked to multiple cases of foreign influence-peddling. The claims are based on Hunter Biden’s business links with individuals who were convicted of bribing African officials. Republicans have failed to provide clear evidence linking the president to corruption, however.
Biden has called for political debate to be “cooled down” following the shooting, as Democrats and progressive celebrities face mounting criticism from conservatives for comments appearing to incite violence against Trump and his party. Though he refrained from personal attacks that have been commonplace leading up to the election, in his first major speech after the incident he accused the former president of “lying like hell”. Biden admitted, however, that the country’s political debate had gotten too hostile, and said he was praying for Trump and his family.
