(DailyAnswer.org) – President Biden held a Cabinet meeting on Friday, the first one in almost a year. First Lady Jill Biden was also present at the meeting and discussed a White House initiative focused on improving women’s health research. This was the first Cabinet gathering since October 2023, making it a significant moment for the administration.
During the meeting, President Biden addressed rising tensions between Israel and Lebanon. He explained that his team, which includes the Secretary of State and Secretary of Defense, is working closely with intelligence officials to help people in northern Israel and southern Lebanon return safely to their homes. “We’ve been trying from the beginning to make sure both the people in northern Israel and southern Lebanon are able to go back to their homes,” Biden said. He admitted that progress has been slow but stressed the administration’s commitment. “We’ve got a way to go, but we’re not giving up,” he added.
Biden was also asked about the possibility of a cease-fire in Gaza between Israel and Hamas. While the situation seems challenging, Biden remained hopeful. He stated that many things might not appear realistic at first but can still be accomplished with persistent effort. “If I ever said ‘it’s not realistic,’ we might as well leave. A lot of things don’t look realistic until we get them done,” he emphasized.
Apart from international issues, Biden brought up the need for Congress to pass a continuing resolution to fund the government. This is a pressing issue as lawmakers work to avoid a government shutdown that could impact many services.
In the last Cabinet meeting, back in October 2023, the focus was on other major issues like the role of artificial intelligence and efforts to reduce gun violence in the country. Biden’s administration is keen on addressing these challenges while also navigating global conflicts. The president remains determined to push forward, no matter the difficulties at hand.
