Black Voters Can ‘No Longer Afford’ To Vote For Biden

(DailyAnswer.org) – Reverend Jesse Lee Peterson has argued that black voters cannot afford to vote for Biden in the 2024 presidential election. Polls have shown that support among black voters is shifting from incumbent President Joe Biden to former President Donald Trump in record numbers.

In the interview with Fox News, Peterson accused the Democrats of abandoning black voters and that many who had not considered doing so previously would vote for Trump. He blamed the border crisis and Biden’s economic policies for the decline in popularity among one of his key voting demographics.

Petersen told anchor Trace Gallagher that even if he were “black enough,” he could not afford to vote for the 81-year-old president this time, adding that he hears the same views wherever he goes. He claimed that the Democrats had “tossed aside” those who were committed to voting for them for a long time, stressing the impact of the economic crisis on black populations.

Left-leaning commentators have challenged the predictions; however, Reverend Al Sharpton questioned the reliability of polls, noting that after polling 20% of voters in the 2020 election, Trump only secured close to 8%. Sharpton commented that Biden needs to be more aggressive with black voters and remind them of the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act, which were supported by Biden but opposed by Trump.

CNN also accused Trump of “falsifying” his popularity among black voters by suggesting it had quadrupled since the release of the former president’s mugshot. Both Democrats and Al Sharpton criticized Trump’s “racist” claim that black people identified with him because of his mugshot.

According to the February 2024 poll data, 23% of black voters support Trump. Peterson noted the impact of illegal immigration on black communities and that gang violence between black and Hispanic communities is spiraling out of control as a result. He also criticized Barack Obama for failing to deliver his promise to secure more jobs for black people. He commented that the Biden administration performed worse in this regard and “wiped them out.”
