(DailyAnswer.org) – Small business owners in New Hampshire are speaking out against Vice President Kamala Harris ahead of her visit to the state on Wednesday. Harris is expected to present new economic policies aimed at small businesses, but many of these owners are not optimistic.
Under the Biden-Harris administration, small businesses have struggled with rising costs, more regulations, and higher taxes. According to a survey by RedBalloon and Public Square, almost half of small businesses said they wouldn’t survive another four years under these policies.
Critics claim that Harris’s proposed economic solutions, dubbed “Kamalanomics,” would only make things worse. Her plan reportedly includes price controls similar to those used in Soviet Russia, a tax on unrealized capital gains (meaning people would pay taxes on investments that haven’t been sold), an expanded death tax, and higher income taxes.
Tom Moulton, who runs SleepNet Corporation in Hampton, fears for the country’s future if Harris becomes president. “It will be the beginning of the end for America if Kamala wins,” Moulton said. “Our way of life will be over.”
Many believe that Harris’s tax proposals would destroy investment and hurt small businesses’ chances of staying open. Scott Fitzgerald, who owns Fast Signs in Manchester, expressed his frustration: “Penalizing small businesses for making a profit is as un-American as it gets. I’ll be encouraging everyone to vote for President Trump.”
Small businesses, which already face an average federal tax rate of 19.8%, often struggle compared to large companies like Amazon, which pay an average rate of just 12.8%, according to the Small Business Administration (SBA). The United States has about 34 million small businesses, employing almost 62 million people, or 46% of private sector workers. These businesses also created most of the new jobs between 1995 and 2021.
Local business owner Michael Moote Jr. added, “It’s simply unaffordable for too many families and small businesses. Kamala’s policies will only make it worse.” Like many others, he plans to support Trump in the next election.
