(DailyAnswer.org) – President Joe Biden has been ridiculed by critics on social media after video footage showed a disappointing turnout of supporters greeting the president’s motorcade in Atlanta.
The president was in the deep blue city to hold a fundraising event and deliver a commencement speech at Morehouse College. The Republican National Committee commented on its RNC Research X account that “crooked” Biden was ignoring questions and looking “dazed and confused, as usual”. RNC research posted video footage of streets that were mostly empty other than a few people filming the motorcade.
Biden continues to perform relatively poorly in polls approaching the November presidential election. What were once key voter bases for the Democrats become increasingly disillusioned with the Biden administration and unenthusiastic about a rematch between him and former President Donald Trump. While enraged anti-Israel protests at university campuses are appearing to attract bigger crowds than Biden’s campaign stops, Trump is praising the size of his crowds, such as that in Wildwood, New Jersey, which the former president confidently predicted he will take from the Democrats in November.
Trump also claimed that he could win in Minnesota, which has not voted Republican in over half a century. In the luxurious neighborhood of Buckhead, Atlanta, Biden claimed despite the poor turnout to the motorcade that Georgia’s voters were responsible for securing his victory against Trump in 2020. One commenter on X joked about the president being greeted by a crowd of “four people”.
Critics of the conservative commentary on the event claimed that the apparently poor turnout was exaggerated, noting that the videos posted online showed only short clips of Biden’s vehicle passing by. Trump is no stranger to poor turnouts at events either; in 2020 Trump slated his advisers over the poor attendance at a rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma, which was his first since the lifting of Coronavirus lockdowns. What was a major disappointment to the then-president expecting a well-received return to the campaign trail reportedly left Trump “furious”. Trump is nonetheless confident approaching the November election despite facing multiple legal battles, and maintains a narrow lead over Biden in the polls.
