Dem Governor Claims Black Children Don’t Know the Term ‘Computer’

(DailyAnswer.org) – Democratic New York Governor Kathy Hochul has claimed that young black children who grow up in the Bronx do not know what the word “computer” means. The governor added that they do not “know these things”.

The comments revived conservative commentary that has long sought to remind the Democratic party that it was Democrats, not Republicans, who both started the civil war and founded the Ku Klux Klan. Hochul’s controversial remarks at the “Milken Institute Fireside Chat” were reportedly unchallenged by the moderator, prompting further criticism. Hochul added that the broader challenges of society could be addressed by encouraging “diverse voices” in the tech industry.

Despite frequently accusing former President Donald Trump of using racist rhetoric, particularly regarding Mexicans, the Democrats are no strangers themselves to racially insensitive gaffes. In March, Maryland congressman and U.S. Senate candidate David Trone apologized for using the “bugaboo” slur during a hearing at Capitol Hill.

The comments of Hochul and other Democrats, including those of President Joe Biden himself, have led to claims by conservatives that they are treating black voters “like children” and displaying a “white savior complex. Biden was accused of manipulating black voters into viewing themselves as victims in a commencement speech at the predominantly black Howard University in May 2023. Biden was also accused of exaggerating “white supremacy” as the biggest terrorist threat in the U.S. at the event. Black voters are increasingly turning away from the Democrats after the Biden administration delivered little in the way of discernible results, despite promising a lot to black communities in the previous general election.

Elected Bronx officials slated Hochul’s comments. Amanda Septimo, a South Bronx assembly member, said the comments were “appalling” and “misinformed”. Afro-Hispanic New York assembly member Karines Reyes was “deeply disturbed” by the governor’s comments. Hochul apologized for the remarks, saying she misspoke. Hochul stressed that she was trying to highlight the lack of access black children from areas such as the Bronx have to computers and high-paying jobs in the tech industry.
