Deported Illegal Immigrant Allegedly Starts Fatal Fire

(DailyAnswer.org) – Californian authorities have arrested an illegal alien who has already been deported from the US three times, after the suspect was linked to a deadly arson attack that killed a mother and two children. The suspect, 59-year-old Jose Carmen Cardona, is alleged to have set the mother’s mobile home on fire when she and her three children were asleep.

The mother was identified as 32-year-old Lisbeth Gutierrez-Salazar. Two of her three sons – 10-year-old Juan Gutierrez-Salazar and 7-year-old Julian Cardona-Gutierrez – died in the fire. A third son was the only survivor of the blaze. Law enforcement announced the arrest of Cardona on July 12. According to police, Cardona and Lisbeth were in a relationship.

Cardona fled the scene and was apprehended by the US Marshals Service. US Marshal for the Eastern District of California, Lasha Boyden, commented on the great distances marshals traveled to find the fugitive. Boyden said that a tipoff allowed them to respond quickly and arrest the suspect without any setbacks.

According to the District Attorney’s Office, the mobile home was consumed by the blaze when firefighters arrived at the scene following the incident on June 25. Cardona is charged with five counts of murder, child endangerment and attempted murder.

President Joe Biden and Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro have faced mounting criticism from conservatives and victims’ families over the failure to clamp down on the migrant crisis, particularly regarding repeat offenders and those deported multiple times before reentering the US and committing murders.

In April 46-year-old Fermin Garcia-Gutierrez, an illegal immigrant, was arrested for allegedly shooting another man in Ohio. The suspect had already been arrested 11 times and deported eight times. In June another illegal immigrant, Victor Antonio Martinez-Hernandez, was arrested in connection with the murder of Rachel Morin after he had been deported previously.

Boyden referred to Cardona as a “violent offender” and expressed condolences to the family of the victims. She said she hoped the capture of the suspect would help give the victims’ loved ones a sense of justice, adding that the tragic event was felt across the nation.
