(DailyAnswer.org) – President-elect Donald Trump announced on Tuesday that he has chosen Dr. Mehmet Oz to lead the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) starting in January. Dr. Oz, a well-known physician and TV personality, has been tapped to take on the nation’s healthcare challenges under Trump’s administration.
In a statement shared on Truth Social, Trump praised Oz as a top-notch medical professional and communicator. “America is facing a healthcare crisis, and there may be no physician more qualified and capable than Dr. Oz to Make America Healthy Again,” Trump wrote. “He is an eminent physician, heart surgeon, inventor, and world-class communicator who has been at the forefront of healthy living for decades” Trump appoints Dr. Oz to key HHS position.
Trump also revealed that Oz will work closely with Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who was recently appointed to head the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). The CMS operates under HHS and oversees major programs like Medicare and Medicaid. Trump emphasized that Dr. Oz and Kennedy will “take on the illness industrial complex” and address chronic diseases that burden both individuals and the economy. He stressed that the current system not only harms Americans but also weighs heavily on the country’s budget. Trump’s vision includes Oz leading efforts to prevent diseases and improve the value of healthcare spending. “Dr. Oz will be a leader in incentivizing disease prevention, so we get the best results in the world for every dollar we spend,” he wrote.
