Ex-Obama Official Won’t Retract Hunter Biden Attack

(DailyAnswer.org) – A former leading intelligence official has refused to retract a letter he and 51 other former officials signed suggesting that Hunter Biden’s incriminating laptop was the product of Russian disinformation. James Clapper, who served as the director of national intelligence under former President Barack Obama’s administration, signed the letter just weeks before the 2020 presidential election.

The letter claimed that the laptop contained “all the earmarks” of Russian election interference. The letter has been heavily scrutinized, particularly in relation to Hunter’s criminal gun trial in Delaware. The jury found the president’s son guilty of all three gun charges, which could land him a 20-year jail sentence.

President Joe Biden backed the claims that the evidence on his son’s laptop was fabricated to push the Kremlin’s disinformation. Jeremy Bash, the former Chief of State at the Department of Defense and the CIA featured with prominent democrats and former intelligence officials in a viral video repeating the claims that the laptop is Russian disinformation.

Bash blamed former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani and Steve Bannon, who worked as former President Donald Trump’s chief strategist, for spreading the alleged disinformation. In 2023 a US House Judiciary Committee report concluded that the Biden administration conspired with the CIA in 2020 to blame Hunter’s laptop on Russia.

Prosecution witness Erika Jensen confirmed the authenticity of the laptop and that it contained evidence of Hunter still using drugs in 2018, which is when he is accused of lying on his application about his drug addiction to illegally purchase the firearm. The laptop contained text messages in which the president’s son told his then-girlfriend Hallie Biden he was high and sleeping on a car two days after the gun purchase. Despite the president and Democrats previously denying that the evidence was genuine, Hunter’s defense claimed that he lied to avoid seeing Hallie.

Clapper responded to calls to redact his claims with a simple answer of “no”. The laptop, which also contains evidence of sensitive business communications and sex acts, was shown to the jury in the trial to try to demonstrate that Hunter lied on the gun purchase form.

According to reports, federal investigators from the Department of Justice knew the laptop was “reliable evidence” and not manipulated in 2019. An IRS whistleblower linked to the investigation claimed they were “obstructed” from viewing all the information available before Biden and intelligence officials claimed the evidence was planted by the Kremlin.
