Former Kamala Aide Suggests Biden Step Down

(DailyAnswer.org) – Jamal Simmons, former communications director for Vice President Kamala Harris, stirred up conversation over the weekend by suggesting President Joe Biden should step down and let Harris take over. His comments came during an interview on CNN’s “State of the Union” as he reflected on the recent election loss to President-elect Donald Trump.

Simmons praised Biden’s presidency, describing him as a “phenomenal president” who, he claimed, delivered on many promises. However, he said there’s one last promise Biden could fulfill: stepping aside as a “transitional figure”. Simmons argued that Biden could resign within the next month to make Harris the next president of the United States.

“This would allow Biden to avoid overseeing the January 6 transition after her loss,” Simmons continued, saying it would also capture public attention at a time when, in his view, Democrats need to show transparency and a willingness to meet public expectations. Simmons framed this as a bold, perhaps overdue, move to reshape how the Democratic Party operates.

Simmons went further, hinting at the possibility of a Supreme Court nomination for Harris, though he acknowledged that this is just a possibility, not a guarantee. “I don’t know if it will happen,” he admitted, “but it’s something Biden could make possible.”

By taking this step, Simmons believes Biden would be following through on his role as a bridge to the next generation of leadership, fulfilling his “last promise.” In his view, Harris becoming the 47th president would disrupt Trump’s victory momentum, forcing him to adjust his approach.

Simmons suggested that this change could even disrupt Trump’s entire branding strategy, hinting that Trump might have to rethink his plans if Harris, not Biden, ends up in the White House at the last minute.

While Simmons’ remarks are just one voice in a larger conversation, they’re likely to spark debate among Democrats and raise questions about the party’s direction after the election loss.
