Harris Defends Biden’s Mental Fitness Despite Taking Nomination

(DailyAnswer.org) – Vice President Kamala Harris has been standing by President Joe Biden, defending his mental sharpness and energy levels, even after taking over as the Democratic presidential nominee. This shift happened after Biden dropped out of the race in July, following a shaky performance in the first presidential debate, where he seemed weak and, at times, confusing.

When asked by Axios if Harris could completely reassure Americans about Biden’s mental state and ability to perform his duties, her spokesperson, Ian Sams, replied, “Of course.”

Biden’s time as president has been marked by frequent slip-ups and mistakes, which have led to growing concerns about his mental health, especially as he is now in his eighties. These concerns became more public after the first debate, with even some Democrats and media figures suggesting that it might be best for Biden to step down from running for a second term.

Earlier in the year, Robert Hur, a former special counsel, released a report on Biden’s handling of classified documents. Hur’s report described Biden as “elderly” and pointed out that he had trouble remembering key facts, such as when he had been vice president. The report also suggested that because of Biden’s age and memory issues, it would be hard to convince a jury to hold him legally responsible for any serious wrongdoing.

Hur wrote in his report, “It would be difficult to convince a jury to convict him of a serious crime, given his age and mental state.” Harris strongly disagreed with Hur’s comments, calling the report “inaccurate and unnecessary.”

At the time Biden exited the race, former President Donald Trump was leading him by over three points, according to the Real Clear Politics polling average. Biden didn’t give a clear reason for stepping aside but said it was in the best interest of my party and the country. Harris also didn’t provide any further details about why Biden made that decision.
