JD Vance Outsmarts NYT Reporter’s Bait, Turns the Tables

(DailyAnswer.org) – Last week, Senator JD Vance sat down for an interview with New York Times reporter Lulu Garcia-Navarro, and it quickly turned into a sparring match. Garcia-Navarro repeatedly tried to get Vance to say that Donald Trump lost the 2020 election, but Vance wasn’t playing along.

The interview began with Garcia-Navarro asking if Vance believed Trump had lost. Vance responded by saying that both he and Trump had raised concerns about the 2020 election, but he wanted to focus on current issues. “There’s an obsession with 2020,” Vance said. “I’m more worried about the border and inflation.”

Garcia-Navarro wasn’t satisfied and interrupted him, asking for a simple “yes or no” answer. Vance, however, flipped the script, asking her if it was okay for big tech companies to censor the Hunter Biden laptop story, which some studies suggested could have changed the outcome of the election.

Rather than answer his question, Garcia-Navarro pressed him again, asking whether Trump lost the election. Vance held his ground, repeating his question about big tech censorship and refusing to give the direct answer she was seeking. When she pushed again, Vance shot back, “You answer my question, then I’ll answer yours.”

This back-and-forth continued, with Garcia-Navarro insisting that there was no proof Trump won and Vance calling her response a “slogan.” Vance argued that there were real concerns about censorship in 2020, and that’s what people should be focusing on—not just the election outcome.

In another part of the interview, Garcia-Navarro brought up the housing crisis. She suggested it wasn’t related to illegal immigration, but Vance disagreed, pointing out that there are millions of people in the country illegally, contributing to the problem.

Garcia-Navarro countered by saying that deporting illegal immigrants would make things worse since many work in construction. Vance responded sarcastically, saying Americans built houses in the 1960s just fine without illegal labor, and argued that Americans would do those jobs if paid fair wages. He blamed current border policies for creating economic inequality.

It’s clear Vance wasn’t about to let the conversation go where Garcia-Navarro wanted. Instead, he made sure to keep the focus on the bigger issues he believed mattered most. Recently, the U.S. warned Iran to stop plotting against Trump and other officials, with the plot described as “extraordinarily serious”.
