(DailyAnswer.org) – House Judiciary Committee Chairman and Republican Ohio Representative Jim Jordan has arranged the testimonies of two executives accused of violating antitrust laws and working to silence conservative commentary. GroupM’s CEO Christian Juhl and Unilever USA’s President Herrish Patel agreed to appear before the committee on June 10.
The Judiciary Committee first requested information from the World Federation of Advertisers and its GARM initiative in March 2023. Jordan sent letters to the two executives claiming that the committee had obtained documents proving that their companies were closely working with the Global Alliance for Responsible Media. As members of GARM’s Steer Team, the companies are accused of working to censor and boycott conservative opinions.
The committee’s report states that GARM was utilized by advertising agencies, industry associations and large corporations to boycott and work to demonetize conservative platforms, news outlets and podcasts that opposed the political views held by GARM and members of its Steer Team. The report accused the group of “colluding” with the companies to eliminate diversity of content and political commentary on offer to consumers.
Conservatives have frequently criticized President Joe Biden’s government for its censorship of so-called “misinformation” and collaboration with social media companies. Though the Supreme Court has a reputation for leaning to the right, having ruled to grant Trump immunity in his legal battles, the court sided with Biden in June 2024 in a dispute over the government’s work with Big Tech firms. Republican-led states have taken issue with Biden’s censorship of social media commentary around controversial topics, such as election security and COVID-19.
GARM represents 150 of the world’s leading companies. The alliance also includes Google, Lego, Sony, Meta, the Walt Disney Company and Microsoft. According to the committee’s report, Rob Rakowitz, the co-founder and leader of GARM, gave “inaccurate information” several times and contradicted the documentary evidence that the committee had obtained.
Mainstream left-leaning media outlets have been ridiculed by conservatives for dismissing concerns about Biden’s mental fitness, only to agree with them following mounting concerns among Democrats, party donors and supporters in Hollywood.
