(DailyAnswer.org) –Recent data suggests that Democrats are losing their edge over Republicans when it comes to mail-in voting in the 2024 presidential election. This is a significant change compared to 2020 when Democrats held a clear advantage in key swing states.
A chart created by Eric Daugherty, assistant news director at Florida’s Voice, highlights this shift. In states like Florida, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania, Democrats are seeing a drop in mail-in ballot requests compared to the same time in 2020. The chart relies on data from Michael Pruser, a writer with DecisionDeskHQ, and John Couvillon, founder of JMC Analytics and Polling.
For example, in Florida, Couvillon posted on X (formerly Twitter) that by September 21, 2020, Democrats had requested 1,050,075 mail-in ballots, while Republicans had 891,537 requests. But in the current cycle, Democrats have requested only 77,077 ballots, while Republicans have asked for 48,510.
The story is similar in Pennsylvania. Data shows that Democrats have made 841,428 requests for mail-in ballots so far, while Republicans have put in 347,270. Back in 2020, Democrats were much further ahead, with 1,940,836 requests compared to Republicans’ 772,318 Data shows.
North Carolina is seeing a similar trend. Pruser shared that in the 2020 presidential election, Democrats requested 669,523 absentee ballots, while Republicans only requested 288,478. Now, Democrats would need a huge turnout to flip the state blue again, according to Daugherty in an interview with Breitbart News.
The trend is concerning for Democrats, who heavily relied on mail-in votes during the 2020 election. In Florida, data from the Division of Elections showed that by the end of the 2020 election, Democrats had cast over 2.1 million mail-in votes, while Republicans had cast 1.5 million data from the Division of Elections.
Whether these trends continue into 2024 could play a major role in the outcome of the election, especially in battleground states. Republicans seem to be closing the gap, and Democrats might need a new strategy to keep up.
