(DailyAnswer.org) – A tragic double murder has left a Houston community in shock after a 28-year-old mother and her 2-year-old child were found dead in their apartment. Kendrick Rayvon Fisher, 29, has been arrested and charged with capital murder for their deaths, according to the Houston Police Department (HPD).
The horrifying discovery occurred early Friday morning. Around 3:30 a.m., HPD officers were flagged down and alerted to a hostage situation at a third-floor apartment. When officers entered the unit, they found Fisher asleep on the couch. While performing a safety check of the apartment, they came across the bodies of the woman and her child. Both had suffered multiple stab wounds and were pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say evidence at the scene strongly tied Fisher to the crime. Bloodstains on his clothing and injuries consistent with a struggle raised immediate suspicions. Homicide detectives worked quickly with the Harris County District Attorney’s office to gather enough evidence to charge him with capital murder. Fisher is now being held in the Harris County Jail.
This is not Fisher’s first encounter with the law. Jail records show he was released from prison just last December after serving seven years for armed robbery and additional time for possessing contraband. Authorities are now investigating how someone with a violent past was able to commit such a heinous act so soon after his release.
The identities of the victims have not yet been made public as authorities work to notify their next of kin. The brutal nature of the crime has shaken residents in the area, with many questioning what could drive someone to such violence.
This case is a stark reminder of the devastating consequences of violent crime and the challenges of ensuring public safety. The Houston Police Department continues to investigate, seeking justice for the young mother and her child whose lives were cut tragically short.
