(DailyAnswer.org) – A businessman in Utah has been found dead along with his wife after apparently killing her then himself in a murder-suicide on June 20. According to reports, 57-year-old Olin Johnson killed his 52-year-old wife Kerilyn Johnson inside the couple’s luxurious home in American Fork near Provo. American Fork police stated that, judging by the investigations’ findings, Olin shot Kerilyn before turning the gun on himself.
A relative discovered the bodies of the married couple, who had six children, and dialed 911. Police arrived at the home shortly after 12:40 P.M. after receiving the report. A week earlier Olin posted on a now private page that regardless of how “crappy a person” he was, motorcycles would always love him. The husband also expressed his love for skiing in the post. Police stated that there was no evidence of a struggle and that Johnson shot his wife two times before fatally shooting himself.
Johnson, a Mormon, was the owner of Simtek Modular. According to the businessman’s LinkedIn profile the company builds structures that are used to train law enforcement. Johnson’s previous work as a project manager involved building firing ranges, one of which was constructed for the FBI academy in Virginia. The page also claims that the company worked with the Utah County Sheriff’s Office and US Border Patrol.
Johnson’s son, Dillon Bay, and his daughter, Savanna, commented on their father’s alarming post to tell him they loved him. To others the couple appeared to have a happy marriage that included trips abroad, and recent posts showed the Johnsons traveling in Australia. The reasons for the businessman’s inner struggles and the motive behind the murder-suicide remain unknown.
Johnson’s Facebook page describes him as a father of six “great kids” and a “beautiful wife”. A GoFundMe page was set up to raise funds for the orphaned children to help cover funeral costs. The investigation into the murder-suicide is ongoing as the police attempt to ascertain a motive. American Fork police sent their deep condolences to the couple’s family and friends, and stated that the family requests privacy.
