The 32-year-old had recently married her longtime boyfriend, Bryan Llantero, after dating for nearly a decade. The couple celebrated their wedding in Hawaii on August 24 and flew back to Oregon on August 31.
Jubane was a nurse at Providence St. Vincent Hospital in Southwest Portland. She went back to work on September 3 but never showed up for her morning shift the following day, sparking concern among her coworkers, friends, and family. When officers went to her home to investigate, they discovered her belongings, like her bag and wallet, were missing, but her car was still parked in the garage missing.

Melissa had been an important part of their team and was known for her compassion and dedication.
