New Polls: Trump Dominates Harris in 13 Surveys

(DailyAnswer.org) – Former President Donald Trump is leading Vice President Kamala Harris according to 13 national polls released in July. Despite Harris securing enough endorsements from Democratic delegates to qualify as the party’s presidential nominee, the results suggest she might not have a better chance of beating Trump than Biden. According to a RealClearPolitics poll, Harris’ favorability rating was lower than Biden’s by one point.

A University of Houston /Texas Southern University poll conducted in late June concluded the same about Harris’ popularity in Texas, where she had a 56% unfavorability rating compared to Biden’s 55%. Trump said the day after Biden announced his decision to end his re-election campaign that Harris would be an “easier” opponent to beat. The former president argued that Harris is more radically left-leaning than the incumbent president.

The 13 polls putting Trump in the lead contradict another poll taken since Biden left the race, which puts Harris ahead of Trump. Fernand Amandi, who was the pollster for former President Barack Obama, found that Harris was leading Trump by a single point.

New surveys carried out in battleground states also found that Trump was in the lead, but noted that Harris was closing the gap between her and the former president. The Trump campaign is currently outspending the Harris campaign by 25-1. Co-founder of Republican Voters Against Trump, Sarah Longwell, has stated that Harris needs to “define herself” in the battle against Trump before the former president defines her.

Trump pollster Tony Fabrizio played down any concerns about Harris closing the gap, referring to a “honeymoon period” for the Vice President in a memo to Trump’s team. The GOP has long blasted the Biden-Harris administration over its policies on the economy, immigration and gender identity, and is reportedly focused on linking Harris to Biden’s political legacy.

Trump has stated that he is willing to take part in several debates with Harris, but made clear that he wanted the debate to be hosted by a conservative network. The vice president accused Trump of “backpedaling” after he previously agreed to a debate on September 10. Steven Cheung, the former president’s campaign spokesman, said the debate time cannot be finalized until the Democratic presidential nominee is formally declared at the Democratic National Convention.
