The Trump campaign announced on Friday that Favre, who is widely respected for his long career in football and his three MVP titles, will be a special guest at the rally, which is scheduled for Wednesday at the Resch Center in Green Bay.
Favre, who played an impressive 20 seasons in the NFL, has voiced his support for Trump in the past. During the 2020 election, he made it clear that he felt Trump stood for values he believed in, like freedom of speech, the Second Amendment, and support for the police and military. “My vote is for what makes this country great,” Favre shared on social media back then. “For me and these principles, my vote is for [Trump].”
Recently, Favre has also been outspoken on several social issues, one of them being the involvement of transgender individuals in female sports. He’s argued that female athletes should compete against other females, stating that including males who identify as transgender is unfair. He’s also made it clear that he believes in putting American citizens first. “If you’re born in the USA or an American citizen and you put other countries above us, then that’s unpatriotic. Favre has been vocal about his opinion that the country was doing better during Trump’s term. On the “Fearless” podcast last year, he said he liked Trump’s outsider approach to politics. “I think Donald was a non-political president, and I liked that about him,” Favre shared. “Was he perfect? Absolutely not. Am I perfect? Absolutely not… but I really felt like he had our country in a better place and really cared about our people.”
Last month, Favre also revealed something personal: he has been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. He opened up about struggling with motor control, saying, “I felt my arm, the strength was there, but I could not guide it.” Favre’s condition has given him a new perspective on his career and life.
