(DailyAnswer.org) – Bruno Mars is reportedly $50 million in debt, according to a source who told NewsNation that the pop star is now “owned” by the MGM Grand casino in Las Vegas due to gambling debts.
The source commented that the star makes $90 million annually from the deal he made with the casino or closer to $60 million after taxes. The 38-year-old singer with an estimated net worth of $175 million was reportedly supporting himself as a professional poker player before amassing debt at the Casino’s tables. The singer signed a long-term contract in 2016 that lets him live in Las Vegas with free room and board.
The MGM Grand denied the rumors, claiming that it has a mutually beneficial working relationship with the singer and that any claims otherwise are totally false. Mars recently opened a cocktail bar and entertainment lounge called Pinky Ring in partnership with Bellagio, another of MGM’s casino hotels.
The pop star attracted criticism in 2021 amid claims he was guilty of cultural appropriation. Mars was born to a Puerto Rican and Ashkenazi Jewish father and a Filipino mother. The pop star rejected the arguments that he was a “cultural thief” for appropriating black music and credited James Brown, Michael Jackson, and Prince as strong influences on his sound. Mars said that such claims “came with the gig” but dismissed the criticism, saying “It’s only Twitter.”
Seren Sensei Aishitemasu made the claims on the web series Grapevine, which covers African-American topics. She suggested that Mars played on “racial ambiguity” to copy black musicians. Rapper Rapsody and hip-hop producer 9th Wonder argued the allegations were exaggerated, and R&B vocalist Charlie Wilson, whom Mars was accused of copying, defended him.
In another business partnership, the singer has worked with Fender to create his signature Stratocaster. Mars commented that he was a frustrated songwriter rather than a guitarist. Regarding its work with the singer, MGM said it wanted to create unforgettable experiences for its guests.
