(DailyAnswer.org) – It seems Prince Harry and Meghan Markle won’t be celebrating Christmas with the royal family this year, and according to one royal expert, the reason is pretty clear.
Ingrid Seward, editor-in-chief of Majesty magazine and author of My Mother and I, told Fox News Digital that King Charles simply couldn’t handle the added tension the Sussexes might bring to the festivities.
“No, I’m not surprised they weren’t invited,” Seward said. “The feeling is that it would’ve created an unnecessary atmosphere, and Christmas isn’t the time for that. It’s about everyone being happy and enjoying each other’s company. I think King Charles just didn’t want to deal with the drama.”
According to Seward, Charles has had an overwhelming year and is already stretched thin. “He’s exhausted—physically and emotionally,” she said. “He’s a workaholic and doesn’t really take time to rest. Having Harry and Meghan there would’ve been too much for him to handle during the holiday season.”
A report from People magazine noted that Harry and Meghan weren’t invited to the royal family’s traditional Christmas gathering at Sandringham, their countryside estate. The last time the Sussexes joined the family for Christmas was in 2018, the year they got married.
Instead, Harry and Meghan are expected to celebrate in California, where they live with their two children, Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 3.
While the couple may be spending the holidays stateside, Seward insists this doesn’t mean King Charles has no interest in his grandchildren. “I think he’s desperate to see them,” she claimed. “But Harry has all these conditions—security demands, an armed escort, and more. It’s understandable, but for Charles, it’s just not something he’s ready to manage right now.”
Reports suggest Harry has been pushing to reinstate his security while in the UK, hoping it will allow more visits for himself, Meghan, and their children. For now, though, it seems the family will remain apart this Christmas, each choosing peace in their own way.
It’s a bittersweet situation—one that highlights how strained royal relations remain, even during the season of goodwill.
