(DailyAnswer.org) – Detroit native and rap icon Eminem made a rare public appearance on October 22, 2024, endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris at a rally in his hometown. The rapper, known for his blunt political views, kept things positive this time, focusing on encouraging voter participation rather than attacking former President Donald Trump.
Eminem gave a brief speech before introducing former President Barack Obama, who was also present to support Harris’s campaign. In his remarks, Eminem stressed the importance of voting and free expression.
“As you all know, Detroit and Michigan mean everything to me,” he said. “This election puts us in the spotlight, and it’s more important than ever to make your voice heard. So please, get out and vote.”
During the rally, Eminem emphasized that people should feel free to express their opinions without fear of backlash. “No one should be afraid to say what they think. I don’t want to live in a country where people are scared of what might happen if they speak their minds,” he said. “Vice President Harris stands for a future where freedoms like this will be protected.”
Harris’s campaign has drawn support from key figures, including Minnesota Governor Tim Walz. In the past, Walz raised concerns about free speech limits, stating that misinformation or hate speech doesn’t always deserve protection. However, it was unclear whether he was referring to social media restrictions or formal government action.
Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton also weighed in on the subject recently, saying Americans spreading foreign propaganda could face legal consequences. “We need to uncover these connections and hold people accountable, even criminally if needed,” Clinton said in an interview. She stressed the importance of protecting U.S. elections from foreign interference.
Though Eminem kept his comments focused on Harris and voting, he has been outspoken against Trump in the past. In 2017, he famously called Trump a “bitch” in the song No Favors. He also made controversial remarks about conservative commentator Ann Coulter in the same track.
Over the years, Eminem’s political raps have earned him both praise and criticism, including a Secret Service investigation for lyrics targeting Trump. But at this rally, his message was simple: Vote, speak your mind, and don’t let fear stop you.
