(DailyAnswer.org) – Another body has been discovered in Lady Bird Lake, Austin, Texas, adding to a troubling pattern of deaths in the area. Since early 2024, at least six other bodies have been pulled from the lake, leaving residents uneasy and sparking questions about safety near the water.
The latest incident happened near the 1st Street Bridge and the 300 block of Cesar Chavez Street. On Friday, police were called after a body was seen in the water. The victim was identified as 73-year-old Thi Lang Nguyen. According to the Austin Police Department (APD), there are no signs of foul play in Nguyen’s death or connections to the other cases, though investigations continue.
Police have suggested that many of the deaths might be accidental drownings. The lake is close to Rainey Street, an area full of bars and nightclubs, and some speculate that late-night partying could be a factor. Despite these explanations, the community remains on edge, with theories and speculation about a possible pattern persisting.
In September, a man was behaving erratically near East Cesar Chavez and Nueces Streets before entering the water and drowning. Earlier this year, similar incidents occurred: in February, a woman’s body was found about 20 feet from the north shore, and in April, a fisherman discovered a body floating in the lake.
Other deaths have occurred near the lake’s trails. In July, a man was found dead near Rainey Street, apparently from blunt force trauma. Later in September, another body was found along a trail near Pleasant Valley Road.
Mounted police have increased patrols around Rainey Street in response to concerns. The APD continues to urge calm, emphasizing that these deaths do not appear linked.
While authorities investigate, questions remain. Could these tragedies be entirely accidental, or is there something more sinister at play? The answers are unclear, but one thing is certain: residents and visitors are keeping a closer eye on Lady Bird Lake.
If you have any information, the APD encourages reaching out.
