(DailyAnswer.org) – A suspect was arrested hours after police lifted a shelter-in-place order in connection with a shooting in Falls Township, Pennsylvania. Andre Gordon, 26, is suspected of shooting three people dead with an “AR-15-style assault rifle”. Gordon was taken into custody after fleeing across state lines and entering a five-hour standoff with police at a residence in New Jersey.
The shootings at two separate locations resulted in the cancellation of a St Patrick’s Day parade and the closure of a children’s theme park and shopping center. The suspect was classed as “extremely dangerous” and reportedly surrendered peacefully to law enforcement after the standoff. Steve Wilson, police director for the city of Trenton, said Gordon was not believed to be armed when he was apprehended.
After stealing a 44-year-old man’s Honda CRV at gunpoint in a Dollar Central parking lot, the suspect drove to Levittown, a northern Philadelphia suburb. Police later recovered the vehicle unoccupied. The unnamed man was unharmed. According to authorities, Gordon, who is believed to be homeless, fatally shot his 13-year-old sister, Kera Gordon, and his stepmother, 52-year-old Karen Gordon, at around 8.52 A.M. Three others, including a 14-year-old, reportedly hid in the house as the gunman searched for them. Afterward, Gordon drove to a nearby home that he broke into before shooting 25-year-old Taylor Daniel, who was the mother of his children, at around 9:01 A.M. He bludgeoned her mother with the butt of his rifle before fleeing the scene.
Daniel’s mother was taken to a hospital nearby for treatment. At a news conference, Bucks County District Attorney Jennifer Schorn stated that the suspect barricaded himself at a duplex. The Trenton Police Department confirmed that the standoff was over after responding to the incident on the 100 block of Phillips Avenue in Trenton. Officials said Gordon held hostages at the residence but confirmed their safety and said they suffered no injuries.
