(DailyAnswer.org) – Several thousand migrants have been arrested in the space of a week after crossing California’s southern border, border control confirmed. 8,659 illegal immigrants from 73 different countries were apprehended between January 31 and February 6 by agents from the San Diego Border Patrol Sector, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection data.
Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson made a statement in February 2024 claiming that the Senate’s Foreign Aid package lacked sufficient provisions for border security. His statement comes as the Republican-led House of Representatives has narrowly voted to impeach Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas over the escalating Border Crisis after a close defeat in the first vote.
According to the CBP, Chinese nationals are the fastest-growing group entering the United States illegally. San Diego border agents arrested 269 Chinese nationals in a single day, and at least 20,000 have been apprehended since October 2023. In 2021, this figure was only 342. Several of those apprehended had links to China’s Communist Party (CCP) and the linked People’s Liberation Army (PLA), and former president and 2024 candidate Donald Trump said he believes that the Chinese Communist Party is directing the influx of Chinese migrants into the US and predicted that there would “100%” be a terrorist attack as a result.
Chinese migrants are reportedly finding step-by-step guidance on how to find smugglers at the border on the Chinese-owned social media platform TikTok. Many are flying to Ecuador, which does not require a Chinese visa, before traveling to Mexico and being smuggled into the US from there. China is currently topping the list of nationalities seeking “defensive asylum” in the US.
Before announcing he was running as an independent in the 2024 presidential election, Robert F. Kennedy Jr visited Arizona’s southern border in June 2023, where he commented on the horrific conditions experienced by migrants and called the situation “unsustainable.” Kennedy noted that the sector’s border control agents had apprehended migrants from 117 countries and that many came from Asian countries such as Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and China. The candidate has vowed to make the border “impervious.” Republican Texas Governor Greg Abbott has also highlighted the influx of Chinese nationals and claimed that Biden’s immigration policy poses an “existential threat” to the nation.
