Tragic Plane Crash Kills Three Gospel Music Hall of Famers

(DailyAnswer.org) – A Gospel Music Hall of Fame quartet has lost three of its members after a tragic plane crash in Wyoming. The Nelons lost founding member Kelly Nelon Clark and her husband Jason Clark, as well as their daughter, Amber Nelon Kistler in the accident. Four other people perished as well.

The news was relayed by a statement from the fourth band member who wasn’t on the plane, Autumn Nelon Streetman. Her statement said she and her husband appreciated all the thoughts and prayers that have been sent their way in the aftermath.

No one survived the crash, everyone on board was related. The pilot, Larry Haynie, was flying with his wife, Melissa. The group was traveling to join an Alaskan cruise which they were set to perform on, according to Gaither Music Group, who sponsored the cruise. The youngest daughter, Autumn, wasn’t on the plane and traveled to Seattle separately with her husband.

Upon discovering the news, the couple joined other gospel singers Bill and Gloria Gaither who had arranged a gathering at a nearby hotel to mourn the loss.

A statement by Gaither Music Group asked fans to hold the Kistler and Haynie families in their thoughts and prayers as they cope with the tragic loss.

The crash of their single-engine light aircraft occurred around 1 p.m. local time in Wyoming. The plane was identified as a Pialtus PC-12/47E, according to media reports.

National Transportation Safety Board representative Keith Holloway said that the investigation into the crash was ongoing. He highlighted the remote location of the crash site as well as plans to recover any debris and evaluate the evidence to determine what precisely went wrong.

An initial report should be released thirty days or so and a final report can take up to two years, according to Holloway.
