Trumps Slams Biden & Former Presidents For Wake No-Show

(DailyAnswer.org) – Former President Donald Trump’s campaign has slated incumbent President Joe Biden and the previous two Democratic presidents for failing to attend the wake of a slain New York City police officer.

Biden and former presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama reportedly skipped Jonathan Diller’s funeral to attend a star-studded fundraiser. Diller, 31, was fatally shot just beneath his bulletproof vest on March 25 in Queens when he approached a vehicle that was illegally parked at a bus stop. The incident heightened concerns about recidivism and prompted Democratic Mayor Eric Adams to speak out against the “revolving-door” justice system. Suspect Guy Rivera had 21 previous convictions, the last of which was gun-related.

Trump attended the wake and stressed outside the funeral home after meeting with Diller’s family that more must be done to get back law and order.

Biden was set to raise $25 million at his fundraiser. Among those present were actress Mindy Kaling, late-night host Stephen Colbert, and rappers Lizzo and Queen Latifah. The Trump campaign’s Communications Director, Steven Cheung, commented that Trump was honoring the legacy of Diller and offering his condolences to his family and friends while the “Three Stooges” were at a glamorous fundraiser with “elitist” and “out-of-touch” celebrities.

The NYPD sergeants union, however, made it abundantly clear that Democratic lawmakers who had called for the police to be defunded were not welcome at the funeral. Sergeants Benevolent Association President Vincent Vallelong stated in his letter to the union that the NYPD did not want the elected officials attending the funeral with crocodile tears to exploit photo opportunities. Vallelong emphasized how “infuriating” it was to see those against sufficient police funding expressing disingenuous and politically driven sympathy on social media after Diller’s death. He called their presence a “stain” on Diller’s legacy. He praised the fallen officer for making the ultimate sacrifice and acknowledged the work of public servants in spite of the negativity from the lawmakers.

Stephanie Diller, 29, Jonathan’s widow, blasted elected officials for allowing crime to surge in her eulogy. Some of the Democratic officials ignored requests that they did not attend, such as Comptroller Brad Lander, who supported defunding the police in 2020, and state Attorney General Letitia James, who called for reforms over alleged misconduct by police during the riots following the death of George Floyd in police custody. Terry Dunne of Massapequa called the presence of the left-wing officials “disrespectful.”
