(DailyAnswer.org) – Video footage of leading Democrats, intelligence officials and media commentators claiming the Hunter Biden laptop story is “Russian disinformation” has gone viral following an FBI agent’s confirmation of the laptop’s authenticity in Hunter’s gun trial. In the video Jeremy Bash, the former Chief of State at the Department of Defense and the CIA, told reporters that the claims looked and walked like “Russian intelligence”.
Bash specifically blamed the alleged disinformation on Rudy Giuliani, former Mayor of New York City, and Steve Bannon, who served as former President Donald Trump’s chief political strategist. He credited Bannon and Giuliani with attempting to dig up dirt on President Joe Biden in what he called a “classic Russian playbook” campaign of disinformation.
Bannon has recently been ordered to report to prison by July 1 to serve a four month jail term for his 2022 contempt of Congress conviction. The strategist was convicted after he refused to testify before the House select committee that was investigating the January 6 Capitol attack.
In the year of the presidential election Hunter, like Trump, is facing multiple legal battles, which include his criminal gun trial in Delaware and separate charges relating to alleged tax evasion. FBI agent Erika Jensen testified at the trial as a prosecution witness, confirming the authenticity of the laptop, which the president’s son left at a repair shop in Delaware and never collected.
The laptop contained text messages sent by Hunter to his then-girlfriend Hallie Biden, which stated that he was “sleeping on a car” and smoking crack. Biden’s legal team claimed that Hunter was lying to avoid seeing Hallie, who also testified as a prosecution witness.
Hallie, who Biden introduced to crack cocaine, testified about finding the gun in Hunter’s truck and throwing it in the trash. She confirmed that, though she stopped smoking crack cocaine in 2018, Hunter continued using the drug despite claiming on his application for a firearm that he was not a drug user at the time.
Hunter’s lawyers have argued that he was not lying on his application when he purchased the gun in 2018 because he was a recovering addict. Bash suggested that Russian intelligence hacked Hunter’s emails and “worked over” Giuliani to present the Kremlin’s disinformation to discredit the Bidens. Russian President Vladimir Putin stated in February 2024, however, that he prefers Biden to Trump as a “predictable” U.S. president.
