(DailyAnswer.org) – Voters in New Jersey believe that former president Donald Trump can flip their blue state to red in the upcoming presidential elections even with his rising legal troubles.
During their appearance on FOX News, a group of New Jersey voters discussed the possibility of Trump winning 14 electoral college votes in the Garden State, which was last won by a Republican candidate in 1988.
The voters suggested that court cases against Trump are politically motivated and such suppression only happens in third-world countries, adding that these trials will only increase his popularity.
A New Jersey student, William Atkins, opined that Trump has gained momentum in the state and that the New Jersey Republican Party has done an admirable job registering more voters and mobilizing them at the grassroots level.
Although Biden is maintaining a solid lead of almost 9% against Trump in the state, Republicans are also gaining ground. In March and April, more than twice as many Republicans as Democrats registered to vote in the state.
When asked whether the rising number of Republican registrations in the state stems from new voters or from former Democrats switching parties, one of the panelists, Jeani Isaksen, claimed that she knew many former liberals who have started rallying behind Trump before the 2024 elections.
According to Isaksen, the rising number of illegal immigrants entering the US and Trump’s baseless and unprecedented criminal trials are the reasons behind voters parting ways with Democrats.
The only reason why Trump is bearing all these trials is due to his love for the country, as he can easily leave politics and live the rest of his life in peace, Isaksen added.
Recently, Trump also spoke to a massive rally in Wildwood, New Jersey and criticized President Joe Biden and the judge in his New York criminal trial Juan Merchan despite being under a gag order.
Trump lost this state by a 14% and 16% margin in the 2016 and 2020 elections, respectively.
