(DailyAnswer.org) – Minnesota Governor Tim Walz stirred up some controversy on Monday by claiming that Vice President Kamala Harris once worked at McDonald’s and accusing President Donald Trump of disrespecting fast food workers during a recent visit. Walz made these comments during an appearance on The View, where he criticized Trump’s stop at a Pennsylvania McDonald’s over the weekend, where Trump was photographed serving food to supporters.
“She actually worked in a McDonald’s,” Walz said, though no evidence has been found to support this. “She didn’t just show up, put on a red tie, and take a picture to pander to workers like Trump did.”
Walz didn’t stop there. He went on to argue that Trump’s policies hurt the very workers he appeared to support at McDonald’s. “His policies work against these folks—whether it’s affordable housing, health care, reproductive rights, or the rising cost of products,” Walz added.
But Walz’s comments raised eyebrows after a report by The Free Beacon couldn’t find any proof that Harris ever worked at the fast-food chain, despite her recent remarks suggesting she had. Trump was quick to respond to both Harris’ claim and his own McDonald’s appearance.
“I’ve now worked 15 minutes more than Kamala at McDonald’s,” Trump joked, adding, “She never worked here.”
Interestingly, McDonald’s chimed in on the debate. In an internal message sent to franchise owners on Sunday, the company said they were “proud” of Harris’ “fond memories” of working at the Golden Arches. However, they also noted that they don’t have complete records for all employees dating back to the 1980s, suggesting they couldn’t confirm or deny her employment.
As the conversation on The View wrapped up, Walz also blamed Trump’s economic policies for inflation, though this claim faces pushback. In fact, many critics argue that the current inflation crisis started under the Biden-Harris administration, not Trump.
The back-and-forth between Trump, Harris, and Walz has kept the spotlight on fast food workers—whether they actually worked the fryer or just stopped by for photos.
