Women Accused Of Stabbing Toddler Released On Bail

(DailyAnswer.org) – A woman has allegedly stabbed a one-year-old boy in a stroller and a 24-year-old woman hours earlier while out on bail.

Takeira Hester, 28, is accused of stabbing the infant in front of his parents after attacking the woman on a different street hours earlier in Philadelphia, having missed a court hearing she was expected to attend regarding a 2022 stabbing in New York City. In the 2022 incident, Hester allegedly stabbed a 31-year-old man who intervened to break up a fight between her and another woman on a train. Hester is charged with attempted murder in connection with the two unprovoked attacks.

The first attack occurred at roughly 8:30 A.M. when the suspect reportedly stabbed the woman in the finger and chest on Chancellor Street, having made her way down to Philadelphia after skipping her court hearing in New York. Approximately two hours later, a mother and father walked with their baby twins in front of Temple Beth Zion-Beth Israel when, according to the police, Hester tried to stab both infants. The twins were both in a stroller, but the suspect was only able to reach one baby. She stabbed the 1-year-old in the forearm. The father pursued her around the block, where she dropped a bag in her possession.

Authorities state that Hester is also charged by the New York Police Department with aggravated assault in addition to aggravated murder and connected offenses. The boy was taken to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, and the woman was treated for injuries at Jefferson University Hospital. Both victims are reportedly in a stable condition.

The suspect has been taken into custody by Philadelphia police, who caught up with her on North 63rd Street a few hours after the stabbings. According to Philadelphia Police Captain Frank Banford, Hester rushed up to the two parents and said nothing before attacking the baby. Banford added that the suspect used a “long knife” in both of the attacks in Philadelphia. Hester is held on $4 million bail.
