13-Year-Old Kills Elderly Man In Carjacking Gone Wrong

(DailyAnswer.org) – A 13-year-old boy has confessed to shooting and killing a 65-year-old man in broad daylight in an unsuccessful carjacking on April 6, according to San Antonio Police.

The boy reportedly confronted Muhammad Khan Pazir in a Walmart parking lot on Blanco Road at roughly 3. P.M. and fled the scene after the botched carjacking attempt. San Antonio Police Information Officer Ricardo Guzman commented that the incident escalated into a shooting and that the victim was pronounced dead at the parking lot. Several witnesses were interviewed regarding the crime, and investigators ascertained a description of the car linked to the fatal shooting. They traced the vehicle to an apartment complex on Sahara Drive, roughly three miles from the crime scene.

The investigators set up surveillance and stopped the vehicle after they saw four individuals leave an apartment to enter the stolen car. Police found the 13-year-old suspect driving the vehicle and arrested him, as well as the three passengers. When interviewed, the boy admitted to shooting Pazir. The suspect’s identity has not been revealed due to his age.

In January 2024, San Antonio announced it would follow the same approach as Austin and Houston in addressing violent crime as a public health issue. The public health framework aims to prevent violence by using research and evidence to better understand its causes. The city’s officials are addressing four areas: gun crime, domestic violence, sexual assaults, and crimes committed by youths.

The city’s public health administrator, Erica Haller-Stevenson, argued that addressing violence as a public health issue involved studying its deeper impact and the role it plays throughout a person’s life. The so-called beyond policing policy has already been developing in Austin and other municipalities across the United States. Jeff Coots, a professor at New York’s John Jay College of Criminal Justice, noted that the public health community has taken an “active leadership role” in discussing violence and ways to prevent it in society.

The investigation into the fatal carjacking attempt is ongoing. Members of the public are being encouraged to contact the police with any information about the incident. The teen had an unrelated outstanding warrant when the shooting occurred and faces charges of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, unlawful use of a firearm, and capital murder.
