Gunmen Shoots Six, Including Two Kids, in Washington DC Neighborhood

(DailyAnswer.org) – Gunmen shot multiple people outside an apartment complex in Washington D.C. on April 10. Two men exited a vehicle and opened fire from across the street, according to Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela Smith. Six people were wounded, including two boys aged 9 and 12, and a man was found dead by responding officers. Victims were taken to hospital in the Carver Lanston neighborhood in Northeast D.C. The shooting happened shortly after 6 pm when the suspects began firing into a crowd, according to reports.

All surviving victims of the shooting were reported to have non-life-threatening injuries. Smith commented that her condolences went out to the relatives of the victims affected by the “senseless violence.” Police are searching for a light blue Toyota sedan that they believe could be linked to the incident. The vehicle has UNK flags, black rims, dark tints, and no front tags. The images of the vehicle were obtained by D.C.’s Real Time Crime Center, and Smith urged anyone with information to contact the police.

The man killed in the shooting has been identified as Aubrey McLeod, 29. McLeod was taking his two young sons to football practice when the gunmen fired at the crowd on 21st Street NE. The two children injured in the shooting were reportedly unrelated to McLeod. McLeod’s mother, Marlea Tolson, said to NBC News that she was “forever changed” and would never be the same after the loss of her son. McLeod also left behind a two-year-old daughter and was described as a devoted father.

The mother of the 9-year-old boy shot in the incident has said he is too afraid to sleep following the attack. Tolson commented that she could not understand how it was possible for the shooters to get their hands on the guns and turn up in broad daylight to start shooting randomly at members of the public. Smith stressed that such violence cannot be allowed in communities.
